Enoki enveloped in a thinly cut (carpaccio style) beef slices with a dash of tamari and black sesame seeds for a simple and fun bite on your next dinner party. A savory bite These Enoki Beef Rolls savory appetizers originate from Japon, a tender meat rolled around crunchy enoki mushrooms, a drop of tamari and a sprinkle of black sesame. Sometimes, simple is the answer to your guest’s stomach… My Cantonese sister in law made those mini rolls for my family once, slightly differently made (in the wok instead of the oven) but I thought it would make a nice appetizer idea for the holidays. When you receive guests, it’s always a tricky thing to satisfy everyone, this one appetizer is a carnivore pleaser guaranteed, plus it’s so simple to make. You can prepare them in advance and simply put them in the oven when your guests arrive and 10 minutes laters…

Banh Mi Rolls is a similar to spring rolls, but with all the goodies from the famous vietnamese sandwich Banh Mi. As many knows, the Banh Mi  Sandwich (check my recipe) was brought by the French into Vietnam during their occupancy during the Indochina time. I’m myself a big fan of those precious sandwich, but this version is a “back to the roots” one. I’ve taken out all the French elements (baguette and mayo) to make it a Banh Mi Roll (a la spring rolls). The Banh Mi Rolls consist of marinated chicken, pickled carrot/daikon, cucumber sticks and cilantro leaves which are the Banh Mi elements, then the usual spring rolls elements of rice vermicelli and rice paper. To finish it up, the usual fish sauce dip with extra spice to replace the spicy mayo from the sandwich. A great new way to eat your “rolls”, or Banh mi… You can…

Duck Prosciutto Appetizer with dates and aged cheddar to serve your guests a sweet and salty bite for the holiday season. The holiday season is coming, we’ll soon receive guests at home and/or vice versa. Here is a great idea to make your guests happy as a clam. A lovely plate of duck prosciutto appetizer rolled up around a dated piece and aged cheddar to open up those guests’ stomachs. Those little bites will go away in no time, guaranteed, so make sure to prepare enough of those little nibbles. This recipe is based on an appetizer my mom did last year, which was simply the duck prosciutto and the sharp cheddar with a drizzle of maple syrup. Back then, I really enjoyed it, it was delicious as it was but missing a little “je ne sais quoi”. I also experience the date and bacon mini rolls bites at an English friend’s place…

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Tomato Sauce is a gluten-free cannelloni. Made of spiced ground beef/pork filling with garlic, onion, and rice topped with a tomato sauce. It’s a comforting dish without all the carbs. Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Tomato Sauce are a popular dish throughout Eastern Europe to Asia. Although they have many different variations from place to place, some are made with a side of sour cream others with savoy cabbage, etc. This version is closer to the Polish version called Gołąbki which is a mix of minced beef and pork filling cabbage rolls cooked in the oven with a simple tomato sauce. Cabbage the Magnificent You could use Savoy or red cabbage also for this recipe. Although, the traditional and thickest would be the green cabbage. For once a veggie is used as a container, and cutting on the carbs and gluten is always a welcomed break for…
